Volunteer at Thornton Creek!
As a Seattle Public Schools Option School focused on Expeditionary Learning, Thornton Creek depends on our community’s participation and engagement to help carry forward the amazing programs, activities and classroom support for our school to thrive. Volunteering is fun and helps build a welcoming school environment. It’s also a great way to get to know other parents and caregivers, teachers, and staff at Thornton Creek!
We know that families are busy, so our volunteering opportunities are flexible with options during the day or in the evenings/weekends, in person or remotely. We have many types of volunteer opportunities for you to choose from, including co-leading school events, event support roles, and small projects to be done from home. Above all, we invite you to come as you are. Whatever your interest and availability, Thornton Creek is lucky to have you and whatever time you have to give our community.
Please share your volunteer interests by filling out our Volunteer Interest Survey (each year) here.
Volunteer to lead/co-lead a school event or activity
Successful school community events need parent leadership. New leaders will receive mentorship/support from experienced past leaders and TCPG board members. Activities in need of a parent co-leader this year include: parent coffees, holiday gift card drive, staff appreciation events, Book Swap, Dragonfly Bazaar, All Family Dance, Talent Show, Spirit Gear sales and others.
Please email volunteer@thorntoncreekparentgroup.org if you are interested in learning more about these important roles.

Reach out to the classroom or specialist teacher(s) for more information.

How to become an approved volunteer with Seattle Public Schools
We rely on, and are thankful for, our volunteers at Thornton Creek and all of our Seattle Public Schools. To volunteer at school, you need to go through a district volunteer approval process. If you have not filled out your volunteer paperwork this year, please do. Your application is good for two years. It can take up to two weeks to process the necessary paperwork. Please, fill out your paperwork to volunteer today!
Thank you for supporting Thornton Creek!
